A close match against 2 sides that have had many good battles over the years saw Cliffe Woods 3 just getting the better over Boxley 2, this time in Div 1. No player went undefeated and with the match finely balanced at 4-4 any result was possible. Gary Hentschel got the Player of the Match award by virtue of his wins against Andy Larner and Jason Davis and his narrow defeat to Peter Mortley. Lyndon Gurr came back from an early defeat against Larner to get wins against Mortley and Davis. The crucial 9th singles saw Larner hold off a spirited fightback from Steve Neilson, and he then teamed up with Mortley in the Doubles for the winning 6th point.
