Former champs set for big British League clash

British League rolls back into town this weekend as clubs jockey for position in the early rounds.

The tie of the round sees two of the title chasers, Drumchapel and Ormesby, lock horns in a mouthwatering clash.

Two former British League winning clubs, both sides are expected to roll out star-studded sides for the contest.

Ormesby will field their No 1 player, Portuguese talent Zhao Tianming, and he will be supported by English No 8 Helshan Weerasinghe and captain, Daniel Reed, the England No 10. Drumchapel are likely to name a similar side to the one that defeated Scottish rivals North Ayrshire in the first round, when Marc Duran, Simon Berglund and Victor Guang Shi were on duty.

Speaking of North Ayrshire, they face Ormeau and will feature Chris Main, Colin Dalgleish and Zak Wilson on their trip to Belfast to face a side looking to build on an opening round 4-1 win over Fusion.

But Ormeau have lost a number of talents moving into the season. Ashley Robinson and Owen Cathcart have moved to Australia and Sweden respectively while Paul McCreery is having a break from the game. As a result the Northern Ireland outfit have registered two new young French players. Previous European Mini Cadet Champion Alexis Lebrun and National 1 Player Lucas Moland line up along with Keith Knox.

Defending champions and league leaders Urban will have Satoshi Aida in their squad for their first travel of the season as they head to Wales to face Cardiff.

Finally, BATTS and Fusion look to kick-start their seasons after early defeats when they face off. Paris pair Alexis Mommessin and Hugo Batocchi will play for the Harlow-based side, joined by Nigerian international Ismaila Akindiya.
